The Task Form allows you to create or modify a task. If you are modifying an existing task, the form will look similar to the image below. The Summary is the name of the task. The Priority values are managed from the administrator panel under General Configuration. Clicking the calendar icon next to the Due Date field will allow you to set the year, month, and day on which the task is due. When the task is saved, the timestamp on the due date will be set to 11:59:59 PM using your local time. The Description text area utilizes a rich-text editor.
The Milestone field uses the Autocompleter functionality. When you begin typing in this field, milestones with names matching what you have typed will appear in a drop-down list. When the field is empty, clicking in it once will function the same as a normal select list (i.e. all values will be shown). If your access role allows you to create milestones, then you can create a new milestone without leaving the current form. Simply type in a name for a new milestone and a modal window will pop up where you can enter the details for the milestone. Please note that the milestone must have a unique name within the current project or the autocompleter will not recognize it as such. If the milestone is selected successfully then you will see a green check mark next to the field.
The Category field also uses the Autocompleter functionality. You can either select an existing category from the list or, if your permissions allow, you can create a new category simply by typing the value in the Category field. You will be asked if you would like to create the new category. Since the category is only a name, you will not have to fill out a modal popup. Once the new category is created you should see a green checkmark to the right of the field. Please note that any task categories you create will be available for anyone to use for tasks.
Below is an example of the confirmation dialog when a category is entered that does not currently exist.
