The Discussion Form view is displayed when you are creating a new discussion or modifying an existing one. When creating a new discussion, you will see a layout similar to the image below.

Here you will notice that you can title the discussion, create the body of the discussion and then a variety of options on the right. The Visiblity option will allow you to keep the discussion private meaning only users that have the ability to see private objects will be able to see the discussion.

The Milestone field uses the Autocompleter functionality. When you begin typing in this field, milestones with names matching what you have typed will appear in a drop-down list. When the field is empty, clicking in it once will function the same as a normal select list (i.e. all values will be shown).

The Category field also uses the Autocompleter functionality. You can either select an existing category from the list or, if your permissions allow, you can create a new category simply by typing the value in the Category field. You will be asked if you would like to create the new category. Since the category is only a name, you will not have to fill out a modal popup. Once the new category is created you should see a green checkmark to the right of the field. Please note that any discussion categories you create will be available for anyone to use for discussions.

The Tags field allows you to add a tag to the discussion. Tags can be used to quickly search related items. The Attachement field allows you to add an attachment to the discussion. The Notify Assignees checkbox is available if the discussion currently has assignees or if your Access Role allows you to assign people (in which case, you will also see a Manage button to the right of Assignees). If the Notify Assignees box is checked then an email notification will be sent to all assignees when the discussion is saved, provided that you have defined email templates for discussions. Clicking the Manage button will pop up a modal window where you can assign and/or unassign people to the discussion.
